There's a book I'm reading (called God in the Flesh) that likes to pose difficult questions and thoughts. A great thought that it brings up is that during each season of in-gathering that the church has seen has been marked by a renewed centrality and focus upon Jesus.
Far too many preachers like to focus on "health and wealth," "live your best day today," "become a better you," or similarly self-focused teachings. I fully believe God cares about each and every one of us, but we shouldn't be the focus of sermons. He should be.
If we want more people to come to Christ, then we need to be more Christ centered. It's as simple as that.
