Chicken Fetuses

Today is the first of two Sundays a year where people go to church.  Whether guilted into going or genuine desire, the main focus for far too many people isn't the death and resurrection of Jesus.  Instead it's all about finding the elusive, colored chicken fetuses, hidden by an over-sized rabbit.

Easter is about so much more than that.  It's about the fact that a little over 2,000 years ago, GOD decided to abandon the awesomeness of Heaven to come down to Earth.

Way back in Old Testament times, whenever someone sinned, they had to go to the temple and offer a sacrifice.  It was the blood of the innocent animal that made up for your mistakes.

When Jesus died on the cross, He substituted Himself in as that sacrifice.  It means that we now have a direct line to God.  That's why Easter is important.  It's not just about finding colored chicken fetuses, it's about so much more.
